I hate to admit this, but it is totally true! You can tell if you're going to get a decent tip by the time you take the drink orders...with anyone! It's awful because it completely changes the way I treat them... ALWAYS LEAVE AT LEAST 15% NO MATTER WHAT!!! but 20% is better :)

It can go both ways, Meg. I try to tip generously when I go out. But if the server isn't working for that tip, it goes down and down. I walked out on a check once when I got really crappy service during a slow shift and waited over 20 minutes for the check. I drew as much attention to myself during the walk out before actually leaving, but the server was no where to be found. I wouldn't do that to you though.
